​This is the original, hand bound version of Naturalized created before editioning. The book is hand sewn and bound with a vellum dust jacket.

Naturalized is an abstract field guide that brings together images of weeds with academic quotes about our natureculture ecosystem. This project invites an exploration of the complex relationships between humans and the natural world, questioning binary distinctions like native versus invasive and unpacking the colonial histories embedded in these categories. Naturalized asks how we might live joyfully within the complexity and messiness of today’s ecosystems.

The field guide format can be restrictive and prescriptive, setting rigid terms for how we classify and understand the world, or expansive and inviting, opening a space for inquiry, dialogue, and the expansion of what we consider "natural." Naturalized engages with these tensions between authority and openness, categorization and interpretation, to create a space where both knowledge and curiosity can coexist.
